SoulShine is the story of surviving a hippo attack on our honeymoon—and the moment I ran into the water and punched the hippo to save my husband's life. But it's also the story of the thirteen years that led up to that moment: growing up as high school sweethearts, falling in love, and building a life shaped by travel and shared adventure. It is a collaborative process between my husband and I, drawing from journal entries, recorded accounts, and therapy sessions as we work to understand and process what happened to us.
